What is Shiatsu and Seitai  Therapy?

Shiatsu, (literally finger pressure, in Japanese) and Seitai  is an ancient Japanese system of natural healing.  It is administered by solely the thumbs, fingers and palms (without the use of any other instruments). Shiatsu is a holistic method of therapeutic touch, health care and therapy. It promotes health & vitality; energizes the mind, body & spirit; and rectifies specific illnesses by activating the innate self-healing powers of our bodies.

How does it work?

The principles of Shiatsu and Seitai are based on the theories of traditional Chinese medicine. The ancient Chinese physicians believe that there is Chi flowing through the body along the 12 main channels and 8 extra channels called Meridians. The main meridians are associated with specific organs or tissues. If the energy is flowing smoothly and harmoniously in balance (with no excess or deficiency) we will be healthy. If the energy stagnates, is blocked or thrown out of the balance, we become unwell.

Shiatsu and Seitai invigorates the skin and stimulates the circulation of blood and other body fluids.

It promotes suppleness in the muscular and skeletal system. It is helps to regulate the functions of the nervous system, the endocrine system and the internal organs. Finally, it promotes homeostasis and stimulates the natural healing power of the body.
